The route

The start is in San Gil, at El Puente Shopping Center, and the route immediately climbs the beautiful switchbacks above town. For 35 km, on royal roads and dirt tracks, you cross the heights of Las Vueltas (km 18.3), close to the highest point of the race, and descend through the hamlet of Morros (km 29.7) to Jordán (km 35.4), at the bottom of the canyon at 470 m. Hot food and your drop bag are waiting there.

From Jordán you follow the marathon course: two flat kilometers by the river and a brutal 1,200-meter climb up the royal road, with the Chicamocha Canyon at your back. You reach El Punto (km 43.8), cross wide farmland to Villanueva (km 50.8), climb the Tierra Negra trail, pass the Cuartel de Bolívar and run down to Barichara (km 59.3).

The last climb takes you to the antennas and the Hotel Carigua checkpoint (km 68.4), at 1,811 m. San Gil is in sight, but 13 winding kilometers of descent remain before you run through its streets to the finish.

Official cut-offs: Jordán at 9 hours of race time, Barichara at 18 hours, and the finish in San Gil at 24 hours, 6:00 a.m. on Monday.

  • Authorized crew-access checkpoints (PCAA): Villanueva and Barichara. One supporter per runner is allowed in, and they may be with you from 100 m before to 100 m after the checkpoint.
  • Single drop bag at Jordán (km 35.4). Drop it off in San Gil before 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Drop bags are carried by the organization to the designated checkpoint. Everything must be inside the bag, marked with the label from your race kit. Bags are brought back to the finish in San Gil and handed out from 8:00 a.m. on Monday on presentation of your bib. The organization does not check the contents and is not liable for loss or damage, so leave valuables at home.
  • Cut-off: the latest time you may leave each checkpoint. If you leave later, you are out of the race under the rules. The organization may adjust cut-offs for safety reasons or unforeseen events.
  • Cut-offs marked ≈ are approximate and meant to help you plan your pace.
  • There are no disposable cups at the aid stations: drinks are served only in your personal cup.

Good to know

Start date and place

Sunday 6 June 2027, 6:00 a.m., at El Puente Shopping Center, San Gil.

The finish is at the same place and the time limit is 24 hours. Times and route may be adjusted for safety; any change is announced through the race's official channels.

Requirements and documents

You can register now and meet the requirements later, within the deadline published in the Runner's Guide:

  • Be 18 or older.
  • Have finished a trail race of at least 42 km in recent years and show your finisher certificate. Training sessions covering the marathon distance are also accepted, as long as the record shows distance, time and date.
  • Provide a medical certificate issued no more than three months before the race, stating that you are in optimal physical condition for a high-performance event. It's a general check-up by your own doctor: there is no specific form.
  • Upload a copy of your ID, the signed liability waiver, the medical certificate and the finisher certificate through the Runner's Guide form.
Bib pick-up and drop bag

Friday 4 and Saturday 5 June 2027, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at El Puente Shopping Center, near San Gil's main square.

To collect your bib you must show all of your mandatory gear and have your documents uploaded through the form in the Runner's Guide. If you can't make it, someone else can collect your kit with your mandatory gear and the signed authorization form.

Hand in your single drop bag, which you'll find at the Jordán checkpoint, before 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Age groups

Awarded with medals:

  • Women: up to 39 · 40 and over. Given the number of women entrants, there is no 50+ category.
  • Men: up to 39 · 40 to 49 · 50 and over.

Your age is the one you will be on 31 December 2027.

Pairs category

If you'd rather not run alone, or simply want a different experience, sign up for the pairs category: two people, any age or gender, in a single 80K pairs category.

  • Each member meets the requirements for the distance and carries their own mandatory gear.
  • You start together and must stay together for the whole route. The team's time at every checkpoint and at the finish is that of the second runner to cross.
  • You may help each other: a push, a pull or carrying part of the load.
  • If one runner drops out, the partner must stay with them to the next checkpoint or until the organization evacuates them. A runner who continues alone, with the checkpoint judge's authorization, receives a finisher medal but no official time or ranking.
  • Any penalty given to one member applies to the team.
  • Awards: medals for the first three pairs and sponsor prizes in kind, subject to availability. There is no prize money, and pairs runners are ranked only in this category.

On the registration platform choose the 80 km parejas (pairs) ticket and register both runners at the same time.

Awards

Cash prizes and sponsor awards go to the top three overall women and men. Age groups are awarded medals. See the details on the awards page. The pairs category is not eligible for prize money.

Registration and fee

The regular reference fee for the 2026 edition was COP 638,000. The registration platform always shows the current fee.

See registration stages, discounts and conditions on the registration page.

ITRA points and UTMB Index

Finishers earn 4 ITRA points, and the race counts toward the UTMB Index in the 100K category.
