What is CCR

Colombia's wildest trail race

Chicamocha Canyon Race (CCR) is a trail running race through the Chicamocha Canyon and seven towns of Santander: San Gil, Barichara, Villanueva, Jordán, Curití, Mogotes and Aratoca.

You run or hike along singletrack, historic stone roads and rural tracks, crossing streams and old bridges, with big climbs and technical descents.

  • When: June 4–7, 2027, the 15th edition.
  • Where: race headquarters in San Gil, Santander, Colombia.
  • Format: a 4-day, 3-night event with close to 50 hours of racing.
  • Organizer: Corporación Deporteza, an official ITRA member.

A 24 km half marathon, a 46 km marathon, the 80K and 100 miles. All of them run through the canyon; each has its own start, finish and entry requirements.

Recognition

A race with international standing

  • Colombia's best: in 2024, Colombian runners voted it the country's best trail race and best trail running route.
  • The only 100-miler: it is Colombia's only race at this distance, and has counted toward UTMB entry since 2014.
  • ITRA and UTMB Index points: 4 points for the 80K and 6 points for the 100 miles.
  • National championship: in 2025, endorsed by the Colombian Athletics Federation, it was a round of the National Trail and Mountain Running Championship, and the 80K was a qualifier for the World Championships.
  • Latin American Trail Circuit: CCR is part of the circuit that links the region's great races, from Mexico to Argentina.

What to know before you register

When and where is the 2027 edition?

From June 4 to 7, 2027, with race headquarters in San Gil, Santander. Depending on your distance, you start in San Gil or Jordán and finish in San Gil or Barichara. Check times and places in the schedule.

Which distances are there?
What are the requirements for the ultra distances?

For the 80K and 100 miles you must be at least 18 and submit a medical certificate issued within the last 3 months, plus a finisher certificate: at least 42 km for the 80K and at least 70 km for the 100 miles. Full details are in the race rules.

Can minors take part?

Yes, in the half marathon and the marathon (from age 16 for the marathon). Minors take part with an authorization form signed by their legal guardian and together with a registered adult. See the runner guide.

Can I hike the race?

Yes. The half marathon has a Walkers category: you are accompanied by guides, but you still need good fitness and must follow the rules like any other runner.

Is there a pairs category?

Yes, in the 80K and 100 miles. Two people, regardless of age or gender, start, move and finish together; the team time is that of the second teammate to cross the line.
