Edition 11, June 9–12, 2023: 100-mile runners crossed the Chicamocha River by cable car and the distance record fell once again.
The 11th edition of Chicamocha Canyon Race took place on June 9–12, 2023, based in San Gil. Its symbol was the chestnut-bellied hummingbird, a bird endemic to the Chicamocha, and its motto, "11 years, the living magic of the canyon".
Highlights
- 100-mile runners crossed the Chicamocha River on a tarabita (a hand-pulled cable car), because the suspension bridge had been closed a few months before the race.
- The 100-mile record set by Julio González in 2017 (25:20:45) fell again, as it had in 2022.
- It was the pilot year of the Latin American Trail Circuit, with races in Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Peru.
