CCR2025 to count toward the National Trail and Mountain Championship and qualify for the World Championships in Spain

The Colombian Athletics Federation sanctioned the 2025 edition as part of the National Championship, and the 80 km qualified runners for the Worlds in Spain.

Chicamocha Canyon Race 2025 will count toward the National Trail Running and Mountain Championship and will be a qualifier for the 2025 World Championships in Spain.

Through a partnership between the Colombian Athletics Federation and Chicamocha Canyon Race, the 2025 edition becomes a national trail and mountain running championship event. In addition, the 80 km will be a qualifier for the World Championships, to be held in Spain in September 2025.

The race will take place on June 20–23, 2025 in towns of the Guanentina province and the Chicamocha Canyon, with San Gil as its headquarters, over four distances: 100 miles, 80 km, marathon and half marathon.

We know the responsibility this brings, we share the joy with all of you, and we understand the many questions that come to mind right away. Here are the answers:

  1. Organization. The race organization stays the same in every respect. We remain independent; there will only be a few adjustments to meet Federation guidelines and national team selection for international events.
  2. Distances. Unchanged: 100 miles, 80 km, marathon and half marathon.
  3. Routes. There are significant changes to the 100 miles and the 80 km, due to infrastructure and road works in some towns, which require adjustments to guarantee logistics and safety.
  4. Age categories. The same ones already published for each distance.
  5. Prizes. No changes to what has already been announced.
  6. World Championship qualification. The first Colombian man and first Colombian woman in the 80 km overall standings (known internationally as long trail) will earn a place to represent Colombia at the World Championships, independently of the race's official prizes. To represent the country, the runner must be a registered federation athlete, meaning a member of the Colombian Athletics Federation through a sports club affiliated with a departmental league. If the winner is not registered, the Federation will allow a reasonable period to complete the process; if they do not, the place passes to the next finisher, and so on. All procedures, claims or related matters are handled exclusively by the Federation through its official channels: athlete, sports club and departmental league.
  7. Other distances. The 100 miles, marathon and half marathon are sanctioned by the Federation as National Championship events.
  8. More information. Details of the qualifying distance (80 km HOKA) and the other distances were published on the website. Information on the next edition is on the 80 km and Distances pages.
  9. Start. In every distance, registered Colombian federation athletes will start on the front line.
  10. Discount. Athletes registered with the Colombian federation get a 10% discount on any distance; they arrange it directly with the organizers.

These are thirteen years of continuous work to develop Colombian trail running, position our region as a host for sporting events, promote our natural settings and culture, and grow local economies. Along the way, Chicamocha Canyon Race was voted the best trail race in Colombia in 2024 and the country's best route, one of the ten best 100-mile races in the world and one of the six best places in the world to go trail running.

This is a great opportunity for Colombian trail running to grow. We invite you to work for the development of the sport we love.
