After careful consideration and for the well-being of the whole community, the Chicamocha Canyon Race organizing team published announcement No. 002 on the postponement of the eighth edition of the event.
San Gil, March 24, 2020.
Considerations
- We are aligned with the spread of COVID-19 worldwide and with the pandemic patterns observed in other countries.
- Our priority is the safety and well-being of all runners, staff and the wider community.
- Athletes need to adjust their training plans and routines responsibly.
- Travel for national and international athletes is restricted.
- It is our responsibility to make difficult but sound decisions in this situation.
- Setting a date in the second half of 2020 would be premature, and we respect the events that already have dates scheduled.
Resolution
- Postpone the eighth edition of Chicamocha Canyon Race, scheduled for June 12–15, 2020.
- Reschedule the event for June 4–7, 2021.
- All registrations made so far automatically carry over to the new date.
- From now on, the organization's efforts will focus on supporting the community at large and especially the running community.
- We invite the running community to keep training at home and to follow the specialists' guidance at home, socially and at work.
- Any further information will be shared through our official channels.
We are the canyon warriors! Together and responsibly, we will get through this.
